DEscription

This week long intensive workshop program allows participants to dedicate a concentrated, uninterrupted amount of time to painting plein air landscapes in the beautiful surroundings of Ners, a charming medieval village in the South of France. Artist Brooks Frederick will guide participants of any skill level in outdoor painting strategies.

TRAVEL

 participants are expected to book their own travel expenses and purchase AIG Travel Guard

platinum insurance. details here.  A Staff member will greet you at the Nimes train station, and

accompany you via car or bus to the village of Ners.

HOUSING

Participants will be  housed in semi private accommodations in a restored 16th century stone house, complete with a charming courtyard.

FINANCES

$300 room

$300 board   (Includes breakfast and snacks each day  and 5 lunches and dinners) 

$500 painting instruction by Brooks Frederick 

$100 materials:  paint, boards, easels, solvent  (students must bring brushes)

Itinerary  

Week 1

  • 5 days of instruction and open air painting on the olive groves of Ners, weather permitting, with the option of still life and or painting with the model.  
  • Each day will also include community building creative support actives.
  • A day trip will be scheduled to Nîmes where we will view The Pont du Gard the and other iconic Roman structures.  
  • Sunday will be an "open day," and depending on the interest of the group we will visit neighboring towns, markets, and attractions. 

Week 2

  • 5 days of instruction and open air painting on the olive groves of Ners, weather permitting, with the option of still life and or painting with the model.  
  • Each day will also include community building creative support actives.
  • A day trip will be scheduled to Arles, retreat to Vincent Van Gogh, who completed some of his most famous work in this location.   
  • Sunday will be an "open day," and depending on the interest of the group we will  visit neighboring towns, markets, and attractions.
